1985 Toleman TG185 Formula 1
Legends are pleased to offer this Rory Byrne designed, “United Colours of Benetton” liveried and beautifully prepared Formula 1 car from the original turbo era.
Chassis 5 was driven in period by Teo Fabi competing at the European Grand Prix at Brands Hatch in October 1985 as well as been utilised as a T car through the ‘85 season. Impressively the sister TG185, with Teo driving, famously attained Toleman’s sole pole position at the Nurburgring Grand Prix that year. It was a competitive and aesthetically pleasing car, let us not forget that Rory Byrne is the 3rd most successful F1 designer!
After a total overhaul Chassis 5 is completely track ready. The curvaceous body work and flamboyant graphics are in original, lovely period condition, straight from Brands Hatch 1985. However, under the skin all systems are either new or refurbished with meticulous attention to detail throughout. New radiators / plumbing /dampers / brakes / wiring / refurbed instrumentation / rebuilt Hewland / Toleman tranaxle etc. etc.
The Hart Turbo has been built up from a new block and head by the highly experienced F1 turbo specialists Geoff Page Racing. Paired to a modern Life F88 ECU and laptop enabling simple and straight forward tuning. Starting / running procedures are very simple and user friendly, the package includes a new electric starter pack, and engine heater.
The car was recently run at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed in the expert hands of FOS regular Lorina McLaughlin with great success (silver sticker) and is therefore eligible for future Goodwood events. Reported to be exhilarating yet straight forward and manageable to drive. Eligible for an increasing number of competitive as well as more relaxing events.
