1960 Ferrari 250 Pininfarina Coupe Series 2. S/N 1689
A beautifully restored example of Ferrari’s 250 Pininfarina Coupe. Methodically and completely restored by the current owner over the last 5 years to the original Factory specification.
Work includes a documented bare metal respray, fully rebuilt type 128F outside plug engine by Colin Clark, an expertly re trimmed interior as well as all chassis and suspension components being rebuilt or replaced. Interestingly S/N 1689 was delivered with a seemingly unique engine cover featuring a centre chromed band.
A number of important developments occurred during the 250GT production; The original 128C 3.0-litre engine being superseded by the twin-distributor 128D, which in turn was supplanted in 1960 by the outside-plug 128F engine which did away with its predecessor's siamesed inlets in favour of twelve separate ports. on the chassis side, four-wheel disc brakes arrived late in 1959 ... providing the 250GT with stopping power to match its speed. A four-speed-plus-overdrive gearbox following in 1960.
This example (S/N 1689). Series 2 / 128F outside plug engine with disc brakes and 4 speed transmission with overdrive. From the Pininfarina records: Frame entry 01 Dec 1959; Shell 27870; Delivery 10 Feb 1960; Destination Denmark; White paint MM 12435; Plastic interior and red leather 3171.
