1977 Shadow DN8/5A Legends are pleased to offer this important Grand Prix car for sale. DN8/5A is the car that was campaigned in 1977 and early 1978 by the Shadow F1 team. Driven in 1977 by Riccardo Patrese, Alan Jones and Arturio Merzario. Driven in 1978 by Clay Regazzoni (only for first three races). Results 1977: Patrese, Jones, Merzario German GP 10th Patrese Austrian GP DNF Merzario Dutch GP 13th Patrese Italian GP DNF Patrese Canadian GP 4th Jones Japanese GP 4th Jones Results 1978: Clay Regazzoni and Hans Stuck Argentine GP 15th Regazzoni Brazil GP 5th Regazzoni/Stuck South Africa GP DNQ Regazzoni Designed By David Wass and Tony Southgate, the DN8 represents the only championship victory for the Shadow team in Austria, 1977. This chassis was not subjected to any major incidents and is in excellent condition retaining the original tub and suspension. After 1978 the car was stored by Don Nichols until it was purchased for restoration in 1992. The sudden passing of that owner forced an estate sale where it was purchased in a partially restored state in 1995. Restoration was completed and subsequently sold prior to being tested in 1997. The next owner retained the car for 10 years and enjoyed the car at many US and Canadian historic events. Used very conservatively, the car received a ‘going through’ prior to being purchase by the current owner. This included an engine rebuild by Phil Reilly in California. (Receipts and Dyno sheets available) in 2007 with less than 6 hours on rebuild and careful climate controlled storage. Sale to include a running spares pack. The car has a very enjoyable patina with excellent reliability and great usability. Easy to run and maintain with a very distinct design and good, unquestioned history.
