The ownership trail has been fully recorded since Graham Eccles purchased the car from March in 1973. Martin Stretton acquired M17 in 1993 at which point a complete restoration was carried out under the watchful eye of Derek Gardiner. Since this time the car has been maintained and successfully campaigned by Martin Stretton Racing and was re-skinned in 2012. Most recently driven by Lord Drayson, chassis M17 is the sister car to the 2011 HSCC Historic Formula 2 Championship winning March 721 driven by Diogo Ferrao. It is worth noting that in recent years the 1600 BDA injected cars have proven to be the machines to beat for the overall Historic Formula 2 Championship, ease of use and reliability have much to do with this!
